The main Allied Powers were Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, the United States, and China. In September of 1939, Great Britain, France, and Poland were all very wealthy in industrial resources, population, and military manpower. But out of the three the German Army was definitely the most efficient and was the most effective fighting force because of their training, doctrine, discipline, and their fighting spirit. Portugal, Sweden, Colombia, and Switzerland helped the Allied Powers in a lot of ways, like they supplied, brigades to the United Kingdom, while Spain avoided the Allies in favor of the Axis. The Irish government generally did good for the Allied side.
